The Data Science program at Illinois State takes an interdisciplinary approach to prepare you for careers working with big data, machine learning, algorithms, data visualization, and statistical models.

About Us

Data Science is a rapidly growing field that has its foundation in Mathematics and Information Technology. In our interdisciplinary program we have a core curriculum in these areas as well as the ability for students to concentrate on the use of data science in a field that reflects the diversity of how data science is used. Sequences include Big Data and Computational Intelligence, Business Analytics, Population Health, Social Demographic/Public Policy Analysis, or an individualized plan of study. Students will also participate in internships and/or complete a Capstone project.

The Waller family’s deep roots at Illinois State University stretch across three generations. The University has meant so much to the family that siblings Justin and Sara Waller have established the Waller Family Endowed Scholarship—the youngest Redbirds to do so for the College of Business.
